My university life would not have been the one it was without Nadine Phillips at my side. From the first day where we sat in the hallway texting and she told us all to turn the keypad tones off (I never have mine on now!) to where she walked into the Ashton Menorial to marry the boy we had spied on her going on the first date with, she made me smile everyday. We lived together for 2 years and then when we moved into separate houses our bond grew more, spending hours together laughing and joking. Every memory I have of the 4 years training to be a teacher feature Nadine, we went through moments of happiness and sadness together, but knew we could always turn to each other when we needed a best friend. I can not believe it has been 6 years since Nadine went to a different world, one where I reckon they too are getting the Nadine treatment....smiles, jokes, crazy dancing and so much more. Nadine was one of the cleverest people I think I have ever encountered, naturally clever too. She had a thirst for knowledge and excelled in all our assignments, but she too had her blonde moments which had us all in stitches for hours! Nade was so brave during treatment and never let it be seen to get her down, she searched ways to conquer the cancer and fought to get herself seen by specialists, even as far away as America. Of course we all knew Nadine pre Facebook so the memories are lodged deep in my memory alongside all the photos I have and letters from her, I remember one long letter telling me all her hospital news, which ended up being drawings as she got tired....this was so Nadine, little doodles scattered her lecture notes and my how we used to laugh at inappropriate moments in the lecture theatre! Nadine was a girl I am so very glad I met and feel privileged to have known her, with her lasting forever in my thoughts. XxxX
